Mother and Child Drawings as Assessment Tool of Adult Attachment and Marital Intimacy for Married Women

Abstract
This study is to find responsive characteristics of Mother and Child Drawings and use them as tools to evaluate adult attachment and marital intimacy for the married women. Survey and Drawing assessment were conducted for 110 married women in Seoul and Gangwon-do using adult attachment scale, marital intimacy scale and Mother and Child Drawings. The collected data was analyzed by SPSS 25.0 using correlation analysis, cross-analysis, cluster analysis and discriminant analysis. The study findings were as follows. First, there was a positive correlation among dependence attachment, intimacy attachment, and marital intimacy while there was a negative correlation among anxiety attachment, intimacy attachment and marital intimacy. Second, this study analyzed differences in responsive characteristics of Mother and Child Drawings according to adult attachment groups and showed 3 significant indicators. Third, this study verified differences in responsive characteristics of Mother and Child Drawings according to upper and lower groups of marital intimacy and showed 4 significant indicators. Fourth, this study examined differences in responsive characteristics of Mother and Child Drawings between adult attachment and marital intimacy clusters and showed 4 significant indicators. This research confirmed adult attachment type and marital intimacy level could be identified through Mother and Child Drawings assessment on married women.
